Addison Russell earns a bottle of red from his manager

SAN DIEGO -- Make a great play, get a bottle of wine from your manager.

At least that was the case for Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell on Tuesday. Manager Joe Maddon bought Russell a bottle of Isosceles Red one day after Russell made a diving stop on a hard hit smash to his left, while also hitting his 18th home run and earning his 80th RBI of the season against the San Diego Padres.

"No more perfect day than yesterday (Monday) so I wrote '6 to 3,'" Madden said.

Russell was admiring the bottle of wine in his locker stall before Tuesday's game while recalling the play he ranks "right up there" among his best.
