The Brian Hoyer era is officially over. The journeyman quarterback was never looked to as a long-term solution at quarterback, but the 49ers organization likely believed he was good enough to lead the young team to the final quarter of the season.
Hoyer was at least supposed to be accurate enough to capitalize on easy opportunities that Kyle Shanhan's scheme created. But after missing open receiver after open receiver and an 0-5 start, the team had to make a change.
