You know you’ve officially settled into the season when you get to that first ordinary win. Nothing spectacular. Nothing feels new about it. You didn’t overcome and kind of adversity. You looked at the schedule and the matchups. You thought, that could be competitive, but I think we’ll win. And then you just go out and win.
The season to this point has felt like an epic struggle. Starting with two epic challenges like the Dodgers and then the Diamondbacks in their park for four will do that. Now on a Tuesday night in Sacramento, the Cubs jumped on a good pitcher early, added on and then won more or less uneventfully.
