In the nine years now that I’ve been writing Heroes and Goats, and with the assistance of social media, the strangest thing I’ve learned is that some number of you experience your fandom by being angry a lot. There is some amount of frustration and lashing out that is part of the way you consume the baseball season.
On some level, I suppose that makes sense psychologically. The vast majority of us grew into our sports fandom as Cubs fans. The Cubs are like an abusive lover. The psychological and mental abuse will eat you up if you don’t build up some defenses.
