This has been one of the more frustrating Cubs seasons in memory. It is often pointed out that the difference between bad teams and good ones isn’t massive. Each year, if you lop off the most dominant and most inept teams, the remainder is pretty homogenous. This is at least part of why most of the teams finish within a handful of games of .500 one way or the other.
That’s been so apparent with this team. Either one more good bat or one very good reliever and this team is probably sitting at .500. One of each or two of one?
