Mother, daughter strangled pregnant teen with cable, cut infant from her womb: police

Three people were charged Thursday in the grisly strangling of a 19-year-old pregnant mother who was lured to a Southwest Side home and then had her infant son cut from her womb, authorities say.

Clarisa Figueroa, 46, and her daughter Desiree Figueroa, 24, face first-degree murder charges in the death of Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson said.

The older woman’s boyfriend, 40-year-old Piotr Bobak, is charged with concealing a homicidal death, police said.

Desiree Figueroa admitted to helping her mother strangle Ochoa-Lopez with a coaxial cable, police said.

Detectives had questioned the three since taking them into custody Tuesday at Clarisa Figueroa’s home in the 4100 block of West 77th Place, where Ochoa-Lopez was found dead early Wednesday.
