Man faces federal charges in fatal Scottsdale shooting

Federal murder charges have been filed against an alleged gang member who fatally shot a man and wounded another last year in Scottsdale on the Southwest Side.

Luis “Snoop” Contreras, 39, an alleged member of the Latin Saints gang, is charged with a count of murder in aid of racketeering, a count of attempted murder in aid of racketeering and two counts of illegally possessing firearms and ammunition, the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Northern District of Illinois said .

A grand jury indictment was unsealed Wednesday, prosecutors said.

Contreras allegedly gunned down 23-year-old Andre Franzell in a driveway in the 7700 block of South Kilbourn Avenue on Feb 18, 2018, according to prosecutors and Chicago police.
