The point of the 2018-19 regular season for the Chicago Bulls was supposed to be a modest level of improvement under former head coach Fred Hoiberg. There wasn’t a very long period of time that the Chicago Bulls front office gave Hoiberg to succeed here in the Windy City. The plug was pulled on him even before second-year power forward Lauri Markkanen was really up and running in the starting lineup.
Current Chicago Bulls head coach Jim Boylen provided modest improvement across the board at best for this team, including Lauri Markkanen. The biggest question mark remaining at the end of the 2018-19 regular season was how this young core would shape up together if they could all stay healthy for a good period of time next season.
