Chicago Bulls swingman Jimmy Butler was cleared to resume workouts Thursday after getting a second opinion on his injured left knee by Dr. James Andrews.
Butler, who returned to the lineup Saturday after missing a month with a left knee strain, traveled to Alabama to meet with the renowned physician after experiencing some swelling Sunday.
He will not play in Thursday's game against the San Antonio Spurs, and the Bulls said Thursday in a statement that they will continue to monitor the injury and Butler "will return to play when appropriate.
