Bulls get lone All-Star Weekend participant from unlikeliest source

Chicago Bulls guard Mac McClung will play in the NBA Rising Stars Challenge at this year's All-Star Weekend.

The Bulls signed McClung to a two-way contract on Feb. 5 as part of a flurry of trade deadline moves. The deal naturally flew under the radar, given Chicago's

McClung is a three-time Slam Dunk Contest champion and won the G League MVP Award in 2023-24. He'll be a fill-in for San Antonio Spurs guard David Jones Garcia on Team Austin, who will miss the game with an ankle injury, per NBA Communications.

Despite limited NBA experience, the 27-year-old earned his opportunity to compete for a long-term roster spot in the Windy City and, apparently, a chance to impress the league on Feb.
