In another look into Bulls rumors the night before the 2014 NBA Draft, the Chicago Bulls could pursue a trade for the Orlando Magic's Jameer Nelson as a cost-cutting measure to open up cap space in their pursuit of Carmelo Anthony.
Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel threw out the Magic point guard's name on Twitter, positing him as a solid pickup for any team looking to clear salary off their ledgers. KC Johnson of the Chicago Tribune quickly threw the Bulls out as a favorite to do just that:
Bulls. “@JoshuaBRobbins: Teams looking to cut salary should be interested in Jameer Nelson. Only $2 mil of his $8 mil salary is guaranteed”
— K.C. Johnson (@KCJHoop) June 25, 2014
With the Bulls in need of some wheeling and dealing in order to give them a legitimate financial chance at landing Melo after July 1st, trading away a contract such as Carlos Boozer's for an incentive-laden contract such as Nelson's could qualify as a major step in creating some flexibility on their books.
