Mark Osiecki is headed back to college.
The Rockford IceHogs assistant coach will join Tony Granato's staff at Wisconsin, reports John Buccigross of ESPN. Buccigross also reports that Granato will be the Badgers' next head coach with a formal announcement to come next week.
Osiecki, 47, has served behind the IceHogs bench for three seasons, including two as an associate coach to Ted Dent. Prior to joining the Chicago Blackhawks' AHL affiliate, he was the head coach at Ohio State from 2010 to 2013 where he posted a 46-50-16 record.
Osiecki spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Wisconsin under recently fired Mike Eaves from 2004-10, winning the national championship at his alma mater in 2006.
