Report: NHL eyeing 8-9 potential sites as options to resume the season

On Monday, NHL.com's Nick Cotsonika reported the NHL is looking at eight to nine potential sites to restart the season. Specifics on which locations were not provided.

The league paused on March 12 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cotsonika was observing NHL commissioner Gary Bettman participating in a digital keynote interview with Leaders Week, a sports business conference discussing the league's work since the pause.

Per Bettman, the NHL is searching for hockey hubs that can host "a dozen or so teams in one location" as they attempt to resume the season.

The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun reported on Sunday that consideration for a 24-team format, which would include the Blackhawks, to resume the season is seemingly more likely now.
