How Blackhawks' longest games compare to Flyers' 5 OT contest

NBC Sports Chicago's Blackhawks pre and postgame host Pat Boyle has seen some things. Prior to covering the Hawks on their recent Cup runs, Boyle was a Flyers rinkside reporter for Comcast in Philadelphia.

In Philly, he saw the third longest game in NHL history: May 4 of 2000, Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals between the Flyers and their sworn enemies the Pittsburgh Penguins. The bout spanned 92:01 AFTER regulation in Pittsburgh, being decided in the fifth overtime when Keith Primeau scored to win it 2-1 for Philly.

It was the longest game of the modern era for the NHL (since 1943-44).
