Despite furious comeback, Blackhawks fall 4-3 to Hurricanes in Jeremy Colliton’s debut

The first game of the Jeremy Colliton Era for the Blackhawks did not go as planned in a 4-3 loss to the Hurricanes on Thursday at the United Center.

In fact, for 22 minutes it looked disastrous.

The Hurricanes struck three times in the opening period. Andrei Svechnikov buried the first goal on a rebound after he swept it past Corey Crawford while falling down. Jaccob Slavin found a loose puck on a rebound and buried it three minutes later. Phillip Di Giuseppe then scored on a 3-on-1 rush to push the Carolina lead to 3-0.
