Charline Labonté leaves a lasting legacy on the hockey world

When les Canadiennes opened their training camp at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex last weekend, there were several notable omissions on the ice.
Team captain and reigning CWHL leading scorer Marie-Philip Poulin, veteran defender Lauriane Rougeau & first-round draft pick Mélodie Daoust were not present, as all three women are in Calgary with Hockey Canada. The country’s women are training full-time for the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics, and will only rejoin their respective CWHL clubs if they are cut from the roster, or upon their return from South Korea.
Recently acquired goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer was also in Calgary, temporarily on loan to Team Canada as an emergency backup.
