Blues' Oskar Sundqvist fined $5,000 for roughing Blackhawks' Adam Boqvist

St. Louis Blues forward Oskar Sundqvist was fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for roughing Blackhawks defenseman Adam Boqvist during Sunday’s game, the NHL announced Monday.

The incident occurred at the 14:54 mark of the second period when Sundqvist's hit on Boqvist led to a line brawl. Sundqvist was originally given a major penalty before the officials reviewed the play and reduced it to a double-minor for elbowing and roughing.

Boqvist did not return and was placed in the league's concussion protocol after the game.

"I think it’s an unnecessary hit," head coach Jeremy Colliton said following a 2-0 loss to the Blues.
