Blackhawks sign undrafted free agent Matthew Highmore to 3-year entry-level contract

The Chicago Blackhawks signed undrafted free agent Matthew Highmore to a three-year entry-level contract Thursday.

Highmore, 21, has set career highs in his fifth season with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The 5-foot-10, 187-pounder ranks second on the team with 32 goals and is seventh in the league with 82 points in 58 games this season. He excels on special teams with 11 power-play goals and 21 assists on the man advantage along with three short-handed goals.

The Halifax, Nova Scotia native tallied 20 points (nine goals, 11 assists) in 17 playoff games last season.
