Blackhawks re-assign Kevin Lankinen to AHL

As expected, the Blackhawks re-assigned goaltender Kevin Lankinen to the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL on Sunday morning.

Chicago recalled Lankinen on an emergency basis Friday night for its season finale Saturday in Nashville after Corey Crawford suffered a groin injury Friday. Cam Ward made 45 saves in a 5-2 loss to the Predators on Saturday, and Lankinen did not play.

The 23-year-old Lankinen is 7-7-4 with a 2.47 goals-against average and .911 save percentage in 18 games for the IceHogs this season.

Lankinen rejoins Rockford after the IceHogs split a back-to-back against the Texas Stars this weekend in Cedar Park, Texas.
