Blackhawks get shut out 6-0 by Capitals in preseason

The Blackhawks played perhaps their most lackluster game of the preseason against the Capitals on Wednesday night, falling 6-0 to move their preseason record to 2-2-1. Corey Crawford once again took the net, but he can’t be faulted for much, due to the performance the team put on before him.

The first period was sluggish and slow as the Blackhawks were outshot 10-7, despite having both of the period’s power plays. The power play did not look great, and they failed to get a shot on net during the first opportunity. The highlight before the game was likely the line of Patrick Kane, Alex DeBrincat, and Dylan Strome, and they did not look great either, failing to connect on several excellent scoring chances.
