Blackhawks’ Calvin de Haan could play vs. Flyers for season opener

Defenseman Calvin de Haan could play in the Blackhawks’ season opener Friday against the Flyers at 02 Arena in Prague, Chicago head coach Jeremy Colliton said Wednesday.

Colliton, however, did rule out defenseman Connor Murphy (groin) for the game. The Blackhawks placed Murphy and forward John Quenneville (right hip) on injured reserve Tuesday when they finalized their roster. Quenneville cleared waivers last week, but was never assigned to the AHL.

De Haan missed the entire preseason due to a groin strain he presumably suffered during offseason training.
