Blackhawks’ Artur Kayumov, Max Shalunov advance to 2020 KHL playoffs

Max Shalunov will try to win his second straight Gagarin Cup with CSKA Moscow this spring in the KHL.

The 27-year-old Shalunov scored 25 points (14 goals, 11 assists) in 54 regular-season games for CSKA, which finished atop the League by one point over Ak Bars to claim the Continental Cup. Shalunov, a 2011 fourth-round pick, who plays at second- or third-line center had the same exact stat line in one less game. CSKA will face Torpedo in the first round.

Shalunov could advance and face fellow Blackhawks prospect Artur Kayumov’s Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team in the playoffs in the Western Conference.
