Midway through the first period of the Chicago Blackhawks' 4-0 loss to the Florida Panthers, Alex Petrovic's shot hit Shaw in the face while the Chicago winger was sitting on the bench.

Shaw told Brian Hedger of the Chicago Sun Times that he received 18 stitches and lost two teeth from the hit. He lost the two teeth because he ended up swallowing them.
