Quarterback Caleb Williams was praying for a pass play just so the Bears could end their grueling slog of a drive with a touchdown. Tight end Cole Kmet said, half-joking, that he blacked out after the sixth play. And receiver DJ Moore called the possession “torture,” given that he never came off the field during it.
If that was the Bears’ reaction, just think how the Cowboys felt.
“When we started getting closer and closer to the red zone,” Moore said, “you could see they were wearing down.”
For all that’s been made of Williams throwing for four touchdowns — and justifiably so, given his struggles through two games — the most intriguing aspect of the Bears’ 31-14 win was the 19-play touchdown drive that ran almost 10 minutes off the clock in the third quarter and ended with a four-yard pass to DJ Moore.
