Bears receiver Rome Odunze, a former Nevada Gatorade Player of the Year while at Las Vegas’ Bishop Gorman High School, had about 50 friends and family members attend Sunday’s game. They saw him catch his fifth touchdown this year, a 27-yarder. He became the first Bears player to score in each of their first four games since Walter Payton did it in 1986. The last Bears receiver to score in four-straight games at any time in the season was Alshon Jeffrey in 2014.
Head coach Ben Johnson was impressed by quarterback Caleb Williams leading Odunze, who lined up on the left and ran a post against zone defense.
