Paul Molitor gets his long-awaited extension after Twins' remarkable turnaround

The Minnesota Twins on Tuesday formally announced that they were signing manager Paul Molitor to a three-year extension, and to the casual observer, it would seem perhaps a bit strange that it took a week to finalize the agreement.
But according to Molitor himself, both sides had a very important decision to make, and it was one they didn’t take lightly.
Beyond that, they certainly didn’t waste much time going to work on hammering out the agreement following the team’s dismissal from the postseason last Tuesday night in the Bronx. Molitor estimated that about 10 hours after the team landed at four or five o’clock the next morning, both sides were in place and ready to see what each side had to say or offer in terms of a contract.
