Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle said not to interpret the left tackle setup at practice Saturday as any indication of a decision.
But the circumstances were interesting.
The team held its most intense session of training camp Thursday, which coach Ben Johnson said was an opportunity for him to see who was serious about becoming “king of the mountain” at all positions, and then planned to use the off day Friday to assess where everyone stood.
Coming out of that, rookie Ozzy Trapilo took the first-team snaps at left tackle Saturday morning, and veteran Braxton Jones was on the second unit.
