Micker Adolfo is a long way off, but finally feels confident and healthy

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Micker Adolfo and Eloy Jimenez are good friends. They're both massive, charismatic, power-hitting corner outfielders, born within three months of one another. They both hail from the southern coast of the Dominican Republic, and toured the world of showcases together that elite baseball-playing teenagers traverse when they're trying to land a professional contract at age 16.

But they're also pretty strikingly different presences. While Jimenez is brash, with just enough winking charm to stop short of being cocky, Adolfo is quieter and unfailingly polite, and notably, wants nothing to do with social media. So even though they speak on the phone every few weeks, he had never seen The Video.
