Kawakami: The Raiders' survival instinct finally kicked in, and they saved their 2017 season (for now)

They saved their season, for at least a little while longer, and the Raiders didn't even bother to hide their utter, thunderous, joyous relief after it was over Thursday night.

Surviving 15 or 20 near-death experiences, all piled into a few hours, can do that to you.

They saved their 2017 hopes, but not before Kansas City seemed to have this game in control, then the Raiders rallied, and then came the wildest and longest final eight seconds anybody could recall or would want to.

The Raiders ended their soul-sucking four-game losing streak, they made the plays they had to at the end, and they beat the Chiefs 31-30 at the Coliseum on the climactic play of a game that actually seemed to have about seven of them.
