GREEN BAY, Wis. — Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty might be the most explosive offensive player in this draft class and he was enthusiastic about teaming up with new Bears coach Ben Johnson after “a great visit” to Halas Hall.
“Endless opportunities in that offense,” Jeanty said with a laugh Wednesday.
Jeanty, who led the country with 2,601 yards rushing and averaged seven per carry last season, liked what he heard from Johnson and running backs coach Eric Bieniemy in their meetings and mused that he and D’Andre Swift could replicate the Sonic and Knuckles backfield that Johnson had as Lions offensive coordinator with Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.
