LAKE FOREST — Bears coaches and players are understandably sick of talking about the lack of takeaways. It would help if they had more than zero interceptions and a better ranking than dead-last in turnover margin.
Pernell McPhee was answering a question about it when Akiem Hicks chimed in from the peanut gallery, wanting to know the discussion topic.
“We’re talking about turnovers. What we’ve been talking about for the past three weeks,” McPhee responded with his signature laugh.
It's been more than three weeks, though, as Hicks said later. The turnover troubles go back to last season, when the team set a record in futility in creating takeaways.
