Funeral mass held for Doug Buffone

Doug Buffone’s family, friends, ex-teammates, co-workers and fans gathered at Old St. Patrick’s Church in Chicago Friday to say goodbye to the popular former Bears linebacker.

Cantor Rodrick Dixon opened the funeral mass by singing the Frank Sinatra classic “I Did It My Way” and closed it with a somber rendition of “Bear Down, Chicago Bears” as Buffone’s casket was wheeled slowly down the aisle and out the front doors of the church.

Doug Buffone was selected by the Bears in the fourth round of the 1966 draft.

Buffone passed away Monday at the age of 70.
