Amid their back-and-forth, Bears quarterback Caleb Williams said he and ESPN broadcaster Troy Aikman, a Hall of Famer, were unable to connect for the usual production meeting ahead of the team’s two appearances on “Monday Night Football” this season. Aikman’s partner, play-by-play man Joe Buck, shed some light on that issue in an interview with Sports Illustrated.
Buck said ESPN expected to hold a call with Williams on Zoom, but he didn’t show for the call ahead of the Bears’ opener against the Vikings or their October game at the Commanders.
