This morning the Chicago Bears announced the signing of offensive guard Lucas Nix to a one year contract. To make room for Nix, the Bears waived/injured offensive lineman Jason Weaver.
Nix (6'5", 325) was out of football most of last year, but in 2013 he started 10 games for the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent rookie out of Pittsburgh. He had knee surgery in June of 2014, started that season on the Raiders' PUP list, but was ultimately waived.
Pro Football Focus had Nix down for 666 offensive snaps his rookie year (that's a bad omen) and a -43.
