The Vancouver Canucks earned an encouraging win Saturday at Rogers Arena, where they beat Edmonton, 3-2, in their regular-season opener.
It was an entertaining, hard-fought victory over the favoured Oilers. After it was over, new head coach Travis Green had little to complain about.
“I thought we had a helluva game against a real good hockey team,” said Green. “We got a little helter-skelter there in the end, which it usually does in a one-goal game. But it was a good team effort tonight.”
Hard to disagree with that.
For me, the one thing that really stood out was the way Vancouver played with pace and tried to get after it.
