Speaking for the first time since a bombshell report that he wanted to be drafted by the Vikings 13 months ago and even debated trashing the Bears to force the team’s hand, Caleb Williams stressed that he was happy with the Bears.
“I wanted to come here and be the guy, be a part of the reason why the Chicago Bears turn this thing around,” he said Wednesday after practice at Halas Hall.
Williams’ father Carl called Chicago “the place where quarterbacks go to die” and told agents that he didn’t want his son playing for the Bears, according to Seth Wickersham’s “American Kings: A Biography of the Quarterback.
