Caleb Williams needed this. So did head coach Ben Johnson and the psyche of those jammed inside Soldier Field on Sunday.
The Bears’ 31-14 win against the Cowboys might have been Williams’ best NFL game, given the circumstances. His four touchdowns against a weak Cowboys defense — led by former head coach Matt Eberflus — staunched the flood of worry that stemmed from the Bears’ 0-2 start.
Williams and Johnson also orchestrated a methodical 19-yard touchdown drive in the third quarter that bled almost 10 minutes off the clock and ended when he threw a four-yard touchdown pass to DJ Moore on fourth-and-goal.
