Bulked-up Bullard believes he’s better prepared to contribute in Year 2

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Part of Jonathan Bullard’s offseason homework was to add weight. Not a bad assignment, right?

“It is when you’re not used to eating,” the second-year defensive lineman said. “I usually eat twice a day. But big meals, that ain’t the best way to put it on. You’re supposed to eat 4-5 pounds a day, good size, so that’s what I did.”

Bullard added 14 pounds by eating “a lot more than I do normally,” including multiple meals per day of grilled chicken and vegetables. His mom did some of the cooking for him, or Bullard would cook enough for a few days for himself — meal prepping, as the kids like to do.
