Bears waive cornerback Tre Roberson

According to the NFL transaction wire, the Chicago Bears have waived cornerback Tre Roberson with a non-football injury designation. The Athletic’s Kevin Fishbain is reporting that Roberson suffered a training injury this offseason.

The Bears signed Roberson in January after an All-Star 2019 season with the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League. There were several teams interested in him before he elected to sign with the Bears on a two-year deal, so it’s likely that once he’s medically cleared he’ll land with another team.

With Roberson out that leaves rookie Jaylon Johnson and Kevin Toliver II battling it out for the starting cornerback spot opposite Kyle Fuller, with Buster Skrine, Artie Burns, Duke Shelley, and rookie Kindle Vildor also on the team at corner.
