Bears sitting Mitch Trubisky, Khalil Mack and most starters vs. Giants

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Bears coach Matt Nagy hinted last week he’d be comfortable if Mitch Trubisky didn’t throw another preseason pass.

The quarterback might not.

He isn’t playing in the Bears’ second preseason game Friday night.

Neither is Khalil Mack. Nor is Eddie Jackson nor Akiem Hicks nor any truly relevant Bears player.

Instead, the second team will play most of the exhibition game, as Nagy seeks to keep his starters healthy.

Bears’ starters who will sit Friday include: receivers Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel, Anthony Miller and Cordarrelle Patterson; running backs Tarik Cohen and David Montgomery; offensive linemen Cody Whitehair, James Daniels, Bobby Massie, Kyle Long and Charles Leno; and tight ends Trey Burton and Adam Shaheen.
