The Bears agreed to a contract extension with general manager Ryan Poles on Friday, a source said, and now he and new coach Ben Johnson are on matching timelines through the 2029 season.
The extension for Poles comes amid surging optimism at Halas Hall that the team is finally on the cusp of winning after pairing Johnson with promising young quarterback Caleb Williams. Poles brought both of them to the Bears, in addition overhauling the offensive and defensive lines this offseason.
It’s a move based on president Kevin Warren’s faith in Poles more so than results.
