Bears release veteran wide receiver Eddie Royal, waive three others

The Bears did some roster shuffling ahead of rookie minicamp this weekend.

The team announced on Thursday they have released veteran wide receiver Eddie Royal, and waived offensive lineman Cornelius Edison, fullback Paul Lasike and defensive lineman Will Sutton.

Royal, 30, was due a $5 million roster bonus this season. By cutting Royal, the Bears won't carry over any dead cap money in 2017, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

After signing a three-year, $15 million deal with the Bears in 2015, Royal struggled through injuries in his two seasons, playing in just 18 games, accumulating 607 yards and three touchdowns.
