Bears promote K Jake Moody ahead of Commanders game

Seeking insurance for kicker Cairo Santos, the Bears promoted backup Jake Moody hours before Monday night’s game against the Commanders.

Moody, who was on the practice squad, gives the team some cover if Santos has any issue with the right quad injury that slowed him two weeks ago against the Raiders. Santos made all four field goals in the win, but felt pain in the quad that prevented him from handling kickoffs in the fourth quarter. Punter Tory Taylor was given the duties.

Santos was a full participant all week but was still listed as questionable for “Monday Night Football.
