Bears morning report: Offensive line competition heats up with decision possibly coming soon

The next two days of practice might be pivotal in the competition to be the Bears’ starting left tackle. They’ll practice this morning and Thursday before taking a day off.

The competition between Braxton Jones, Ozzy Trapilo and Kiran Amegadjie for the job is ongoing, and all three continue to get work with the first team. Bears coach Ben Johnson said he’s getting clarity on that battle each day and will reassess Friday.

“It takes time for the five [starters] to gel,” he said. “The sooner we can identify who those five are going to be, the quicker we will be at our top strength.
