Cornerback Tyrique Stevenson was the only defensive player who started regularly last season who played in Sunday’s exhibition game.

Bears coach Ben Johnson said it was indicative of the fact that he’s fighting with veteran cornerback Nahshon Wright for a starting job — and not because he fought in practice Friday against the Dolphins.

The Bears wanted him to play 10-12 snaps. He played the first drive, which lasted 15 plays. Stevenson sat down after the first possession

“His plan was to play, he and [Wright] both,” Stevenson said.
