Bears CB Artie Burns hurts knee in practice

Bears cornerback Artie Burns will undergo testing on his knee after suffering an injury during Tuesday’s training camp practice, coach Matt Nagy said.

The Bears signed Burns, a former first-round pick by the Steelers, to a one-year deal in March. He was set to compete with Kevin Toliver and second-round pick Jaylon Johnson for the starting job opposite Kyle Fuller.

The vacancy is one of three on an otherwise intimidating Bears defense, alongside strong safety and nose tackle.

Burns ran with the first team on Monday, Nagy said.

“I think every day might be a little bit different as we play more and more and they start to get guys in there to get a feel for what they can do well and what they can’t do well,” Nagy said Monday.
