Bears believe Caleb Williams rallying is the 'story of his life' — but winning was the next step

Despite almost everything that had happened up to that point — the Bears were averaging 2.4 yards per play — quarterback Caleb Williams felt confident taking the field with 6:39 to play and the Raiders leading by five Sunday afternoon.

His head coach was, too.

“These are the moments that he thrives in the most,” Ben Johnson said. “I think that’s really been the story of his life.”

For the first 21 games of his NFL career, though, Williams’ late-game efficiency had mostly been a footnote in yet another Bears’ loss.
