Bears agree with ex-Steelers CB Artie Burns on 1-year deal: report

The Bears picked up a potential starting cornerback to replace Prince Amukamara by landing former Steeler Artie Burns. He agreed to a one-year deal Saturday, NFL Network reported.

Burns was the No. 25 overall pick out of the University of Miami in 2016, but fell out of favor with the Steelers. He started just seven games over the last two seasons. There’s reason to hope for a turnaround, though, considering he’s still just 24.

The Bears released Amukamara in February to save money and plan for the future since he he’ll turn 31 this summer. Second-year cornerback Kevin Toliver is also a candidate to replace him after doing well in a late-season audition last year.
