Are the Flyers being more creative at 5-on-5 so far this year?

There's a very obvious reason why my debut Flyers post at The Athletic Philadelphia a little over a month ago evaluated the team's passing and shooting habits at 5-on-5 during the 2016-17 season. It's because — aside from maybe the goaltending — goal scoring at even strength was the biggest issue facing the team prior to the start of 2017 training camp.
Only five teams averaged fewer goals scored at 5-on-5 (after accounting for ice time) than the Flyers did last season. Part of the problem was poor luck and a failure to finish quality chances, but that wasn't the whole story.
