After Cairo Santos missed a 50-yard field goal Monday night and failed to boot the ball through the back of the end zone when instructed to do so, the Bears added some kicking competition Friday.
Jake Moody, whom the 49ers cut Tuesday after two-plus disappointing seasons, agreed to join the Bears’ practice squad.
Moody was a third-round pick of the 49ers in 2022 but missed 16 of his 62 field goal tries over 32 games. On paper, Moody doesn’t seem to be the obvious answer on long kicks. He’s gone 6-for-12 on field goal attempts of at least 50 yards in his career.
